The Joe Blake series is an experiment in Australian pulp fiction / popular fiction publishing.
Home grown Australian pulp fiction was popular in the 1950s but the end of import restrictions on cheap American paperbacks saw the demise of the Australian pulp genre.
Warrigal Press is resurrecting the genre by publishing interesting pulp style books.
Western Australian art students from Perth Central TAFE are involved in the project by providing the cover art for the books as part of their graphic art and illustration courses. The students are paid for their work and the exposure they receive for the work they do is sure to help them in their careers.
The books are written by Australian writers or to an Australian theme.
Prices for the books are kept to a minimum.
Warrigal Press uses Australian printers.
